Electrician Artisan

**Position Description**

**Key Performance Requirements**
- Execute plans of electrical wiring for well functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
- Conformance to maintenance schedules, general plant conditions, plant upgrade recommendations, financial reporting and inventory management
- Installation Quality :Ensure all installations are done as per drawings
- Emergency call outs
- Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
- Is responsive to client queries, needs and challenges and keeps client informed of progress on project progress
- Drafting and issuing of weekly progress reports
- Safety: Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Subcontractor management :Ensure subcontractor work is done to prescribed standards
- Job Card Management : On-time job costing, job closure and invoicing
- Customer Satisfaction :Meet and Exceed Customer Expectations

**Key Capability Requirements**
- **Formal education**_
- Electrician trade test (red seal)
- Electrical Engineering diploma/degree
- Project Management certificates (advantageous)
- **Knowledge**_
- Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
- Central Airconditioning Systems, electrical and knowledge related to air conditioning and refrigeration (desired)
- **Technical competency and professional skills**_
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Report writing
- **Years of Experience**_
- Minimum 6+ years proven experience in electrical maintenance and repair after trade test assessment and qualification.

OSHA Medical Examination
- **Other Requirements**_
- Afterhours call-out duty and overtime work maybe required for this position
- Role will be client-based and may require travel nationally and weekly stay overs.
- Good physical health is required. The appointee will be required to undergo OHSA Medical Examinations to be allowed to access to various client sites
- No criminal record
- Valid South African Driver’s Licence and driving ability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
