**Job description**:
**Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills**:

- Review project inspection requirements, specifications, procedures and draft inspection QCPs as directed by the Project Engineer or Project Manager managing the inspection project or as delegated by the QC Manager.
- Directly execute visual, dimensional and non-destructive testing inspections as directed by Project Engineer or Project Manager managing the inspection project or as delegated by the QC Manager.
- To continuously review quality control processes, procedures and capabilities in order to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements and making recommendation for improvement as appropriate on project level.
- Review customer QC requirements and ensure that quality control documentation for a project meets contractual requirements. Attend ‘Start Up’ meetings and assist Project Managers with project preparation.
Monitor and record the calibration of measuring equipment.
- Inform the project managers of any deviation regarding the contract.
- Ensure that all activities are carried out according to reference documentation.
- Ensures that the tests, controls and inspections are carried out and that personnel have access to all required project documentation and reports.
- Complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Collection and maintenance of the Quality Control records of the Quality Documentary system.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions when a problem is raised at any level.
- Manage and coordinate dimensional, visual, NDT and corrosion protection inspections activities where requested to do so by Project Engineer/Project Manager/QC Manager.
- Coordinate, monitor and prepare procedures for approval where requested to do so by Project Engineer/Project Manager/QC Manager.

**Profile**:
**Knowledge**
- Ability to read/interpret technical drawings, procedures, industry specifications & codes.
- General understanding of industry related specifications, e.g. AWS D1.1, ASME IX, AMSE B31.3, API
- General understanding and familiarity of NDE (MT, PT, RT, UT) methods and reports.
- General understanding and familiarity of fabrication processes. E.g. Welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW), cutting, rolling etc.
- Experience working in Oil and Gas sector / working on recertification/overhaul/repair of subsea drilling equipment (Marine drilling riser and other capital drilling equipment) / evaluation of in-service equipment.

**Qualifications**
- Matric (required)
- NDT qualifications: SNT-TC-1A / ISO9712 Level II MPI + LPI + UTWT (required)
- SAIW Level I/ II welding inspector (Would be advantageous*)
- Demonstratable competency in use of metrology equipment
- Display aptitude toward and willing to work as a mechanical assistant when required on certain projects that require multi-skilled personnel.

**Experience**
- Minimum of 3 - 4 years' experience working as an NDT Inspector evaluating in-service equipment
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering fabrication facility.
