Dog Handler

**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dog Handler to join our security team. As a Dog Handler, you will be responsible for the training, handling, and care of highly trained security dogs. Your primary role will be to work in collaboration with our security personnel to ensure the safety and protection of our clients' assets and properties. You should possess exceptional dog handling skills, a strong understanding of canine behavior, and a keen eye for security threats. This is a physically demanding role that requires a high level of professionalism, dedication, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Training and Conditioning:

- Conduct training sessions to maintain and enhance the skills of security dogs, including obedience, agility, detection, and apprehension techniques.
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to specific security needs and objectives.
- Regularly assess the dogs' performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide corrective training as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of training sessions, progress, and behavioral observations.
- Dog Handling and Care:

- Maintain a close bond and positive relationship with assigned security dogs, ensuring their physical and mental well-being.
- Safely and effectively handle dogs during patrols, searches, and apprehensions.
- Control and direct the dog's response to various security situations, ensuring a calm and disciplined demeanor.
- Ensure the proper feeding, grooming, exercise, and healthcare of assigned dogs.
- Perform routine health checks and report any abnormalities to the appropriate personnel.
- Security Operations:

- Collaborate with security team members to conduct regular patrols and inspections of designated areas.
- Respond to security incidents and threats, using trained dogs as a deterrent or for tracking and apprehension purposes.
- Coordinate with supervisors and team members to gather and analyze intelligence related to security threats.
- Provide support during security drills, exercises, and emergency situations.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and promptly report any suspicious activities or breaches.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance:

- Ensure all dog-related equipment, such as leashes, collars, muzzles, and harnesses, are in good working condition.
- Regularly clean and sanitize kennels, equipment, and training areas.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or damage to the appropriate personnel.

**Requirements**:

- PSIRA Grade C Minimum
- PSIRA DH2 Minimum
- Proven experience as a Dog Handler in a security, military, or law enforcement environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of canine behavior, obedience, and training techniques.
- Ability to handle large, strong, and highly trained dogs with confidence and control.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous activities, including running, climbing, and lifting heavy objects.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with security personnel and clients.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work in various shifts, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to be on-call as needed.
