1. ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reporting to and supporting the Copper Africa Business Controller, this role is responsible for providing support in executing all activities and deliverables within the Business Analysis and Planning (BAP) function for Copper Africa, with a focus on capital management. General activities include budgeting, estimates, LOA reviews, activity-based cost reviews, financial analysis, financial modelling, and compiling executive reports and presentations. The incumbent in this role further develops and documents policies and procedures related to capital planning, implementing processes and procedures, input, review, and endorsement of financial assumptions, supporting financial planning cycles, performing in-depth financial-scenario analysis, and reviewing and developing economical valuations of capital projects.

- Copper Africa Operations teams (Regional and site-based teams)
- Copper Global Service functions (Business Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Transaction Services)

3. QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:

- Post-graduate degree in Commerce or Accounts.
- CA(SA) or similar post-graduate honours degree (i.e., CIMA)

Work Experience:

- Minimum 3 years’ post-article work experience, preferably in the mining/natural resources industry.
- Prior exposure to Reporting, Planning, Operational finance, and support services functions.
- Demonstrated prior exposure to capital management and financial modelling.
- Prior SAP and/or Oracle experience beneficia.

4. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

- BAP activities and deliverables, such as supporting the Copper Africa Business Controller in executing these activities and deliverables with a focus on capital management, implementing, and maintaining relevant policies, procedures, and controls, and ensuring project and financial arrangements are in place.
- Support capital reporting and planning cycles through ensuring timely reporting of site financial results, accurate, standardised, and meaningful information, and strict compliance with Group reporting requirements and IFRS.
- Review, develop and maintain Xeras planning models to support planning cycles, ensuring Xeras architecture, calculation logic, layout, accuracy, and standardisation.
- Review monthly financial results to understand variances, trends, operating climate and ensure accurate cost classification.
- Review capitalisation models (Def. Strip & Cap. Dev.) to ensure accuracy and alignment with accounting polices (Actual and Forecast).
- Review and develop capital valuation procedures as part of various planning cycles, templates to be used for approvals and economic evaluation of capital projects, reviewing the accuracy of and compliance with capital inputs and capital management procedures.
- Ensure current capital management systems are utilised in line with required policies and frameworks, ensuring timely, accurate and meaningful inputs into capital systems (CMF, SAP, etc.).
- Review operational excellence improvement projects, inputting, reviewing, and endorsing financial assumptions and benefits, and ensuring standardised inputs and valuation techniques are applied in Value Driver Trees (VDTs).
- Support finance teams, remaining involved and in contact with finance teams on a regular basis, building and maintaining open and constructive relationships to execute on general accountabilities.
