**Principal Accountabilities**
Responsible for making sure all conditions are fulfilled for the safe train operations.
Lead and manage all OCC Staff
Responsible for train traffic management and for dispatching appropriately all information/alarm regarding events/incidents which do or might impede train movement and/or station operations
Decision making authority in all matters pertaining to the safe operation of the trains, including incident response and service recovery
**Specific Responsibilities**
Oversee and ensure the smooth running of the OCC operations of the Gautrain.
Ensure all equipment are tested and operational before commenced of the revenue service
Define policies, standards, rules and procedures and ensure the implementation thereof to achieve smooth operations.
Develop plans and strategies to continually enhance the standard of trains operations
Provide Unit objectives to the OCC Supervisors.
Develop plans to optimize utilization of resources and improve manpower productivity.
Ensure that the performance standards as laid out in the Operating Contract and all internal performance standards are met.
Ensure compliance to the Railway Rule Book
Update the Transport Manager and other Unit managers on performance indicators.
Maintain good staff morale and job satisfaction and promote productivity movements in the unit.
Undertake any other duties as assigned.
Perform OCC and Train Driver duties.
Manage the OCC roster
Ensure detailed report of all system (incidents and checklists)
Interview staff after involved in incidents, submit level 1 reports
Manage all staff engagements and training
Ensure staff are fit for duty.
Take ownership and accountably
Enforcement of rules in the department

**Background Requirements**
Grade 12,
Relevant degree
Management/Supervisory experience within the railway environment, Transport Management will be advantageous.
Previous railway experience
Accident / Incident investigation experience
RCAT
Proficient knowledge of railway network systems
Fluent in English
At least 5 years’ Transport Supervisor experience
