Role Overview:
Responsible for the professional procurement of raw materials, maintenance items, consumables and other ad hoc items by obtaining the right material (quality), in the right quantity, for delivery at the right time and place, from the right source (reliable, ethical and committed), with the right service (before and after sales) and at the right price.

Typical Accountabilities:

- Compile and submit accurate key reports using LN/Cognos and KPI/BIC reports and advise the logistics manager and factory manager of any serious stock concern.
- Work with the logistics manager to develop annual procurement plans by including sourcing priorities, procurement budget based on sales volumes and activity, time based plans and stock or commodities suitable for strategic sourcing.
- With the factory manager, logistics manager and finance manager define buying negotiation strategy and finalize best terms and conditions before signing off contracts or agreed SLA’s.
- Conduct periodic supplier audits / reviews / meeting ensuring compliance with our IOS requirements, BBBEE, SHE, corporate governance and SOX requirements.
- Generate purchase orders using review planned purchase order requirements within LN or requisitions received from departmental heads using the system/Greif approved supplier list.
- Procure all maintenance items as per the site Maintenance Manager / Factory Manager approval.
- Ensure all non conforming material is returned to vendor and that the inventory is reversed from stock and credited or replaced.
- Highlight any potential shortfall of stock at the planning meeting.
- Review all minimum balance stock level and transactions to ensure correct level of inventory is maintained.
- Ensure all stores conduct cycle counts and full stock takes are done in the required time frames.

Minimum Education Required:

- Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics or recognized equivalent qualification.
- A tertiary qualification in Purchasing or other relevant qualification.

Experience Required:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an integrated supply chain or procurement environment with manufacturing (not neg.)
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office
- Working knowledge of Corporate governance principles applicable to procurement processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical, technical and IT machinery and equipment.
