CNC Assistant

Reporting to the CNC Programmer in the Tooling Department, you will fulfill the necessary requirements within the Department to meet the Company’s objectives.

**KEY JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Maintain stock control of all tools and equipment
- Operate hot wire cutter to cut and construct polystyrene block according to drawing
- Attached boards to polystyrene blocks to be able to secure job to machine.
- Laminate roughed out plug/ mould using 300 chopped strand to add structural strength.
- After final cut, fill up and sand pars in preparation for handover.
- Assist in routine machine maintenance.
- Regular housekeeping of
- and around CNC machine.
- Ensure foam is correctly stored after receiving from supplier.
- Assist with checking dimensions of finished part
- After completion of mould, assist with waste control and reduction initiatives

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum: Grade 10 Qualifications (NQF2)
- Ideal: NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Experience: 2 years’ experience in 5-Axis CNC programming.
- Laminating skills and competent in mixing ratios of Catalyst.
- Ability to operate a CNC Machine.
- Basic computer literacy is expected for selecting the next program to machine when operator is not present and programmer is not available/ busy.
- Punctuality, attendance and commitment expected.
- Self-driven and willingness to learn new skills.
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy.

- Analytical ability to solve problems.
- Experience in wood work CNC components and an interest in recreational boats would be advantageous.
- Be flexible, adaptable, able and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment.
- Must be willing to work Night Shift when required
