Safari JOBS is searching for a professional, hands-on, energetic GM Couple with outstanding team-player type management skills and upmarket hospitality experience who will treat and run this 5* award-winning Big 5 property as their own.
The couple appointed should be comfortable working with high end guests at this beautiful, very intimate, upmarket safari property based within Limpopo, and which is within a three hour drive of Gauteng.
The successful couple will have a deep understanding of the importance of impeccable and personalised service. You will be confident and able to engage comfortably with guests as you are also expected to personally host guests.
You are expected to provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of the company’s overall mission geared towards ultimate guest and staff satisfaction.
You will work closely with the Owner and the small dynamic, diverse team comprising approximately twelve staff members overall. The accommodation offering is a very intimate one and currently caters for less than fourteen Guests.
There is scope for growth as the company looks forward to definite expansion with more rooms and also possibly a private villa within the very near future.
Unfortunately due to reserve rules neither children nor pets can be considered at this time.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATIONS**:
**BOTH**:
- Well presented, hands-on, approachable, energetic team players that do not have the tendency to always want to micro-manage their team but actually get personally involved in all aspects of the operation, and in guest service;
- Clear criminal record and excellent / clear employment track record;
- Must have existing high-end, 5* luxury hospitality industry experience within lodge/boutique hotel type settings;
- Comfortable dealing with high end guests from various walks of life;
- Excellent computer system and some social media type skills;
- Creative individuals who think ahead in putting great guest experiences together instead of the usual expected experiences;
- Excellent with staff and training staff and an eye for detail;
- Ability to work closely and comfortably with the Owner who is Gauteng based
**HER**:
- Valid RSA drivers’ licence and own transport (mandatory);
- Matric qualification;
- Diploma / degree in hotel management or a related field (Advantage);
- Must have already existing Lodge Manager and or GM experience;
- Must be strong in the kitchen / F&B department - able to control wastage, keep an eye on presentation, oversee costings and orders etc;
- Excellent administrations skills which includes basic knowledge of bookkeeping / accounting;
- An understanding of budget and cash flow planning and management thereof;
- Pastel experience - bonus;
- Excellent with staff and training staff and an eye for detail;
- Wine, whisky, gin knowledge - wine pairing, whisky tastings etc - should have some knowledge but don’t need to be an expert.
**HIM**:
- Matric qualification;
- Valid RSA drivers’ licence, PrDP - mandatory;
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in similar role;
- FGASA Level 1 (Level 2 and / 3 - advantage);
- Lead Trails Guide;
- ARH certified and NDT registered;
- Valid first aid certificate;
- Knowledge of and relevant PFTC / SAPS weapon qualifications for handling, safety, proficiency, and operating procedures
**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMTED TO**:
**HER**:
- Overall running of the lodge - overseeing all departments including kitchen / housekeeping / maintenance / service / bar;
- Hosting of Guests - ensuring every aspect of the guests stay is perfect;
- Staff management / welfare / cycles / incentives / increases;
- Daily: reports / planning / trips / Guests invoicing / spreadsheets / pastel;
- Monthly: stock takes / reports / costs per head etc;
- Finance: In conjunction with the Owner & CFO;
- Ordering / menu’s / wine lists / town trips;
- 5 Star grading site visits;
- Work closely with reservations / potentially stand in when reservationist is on leave / rates & specials;
- Occasional marketing on a weekly roster type basis: Facebook & Instagram, monitor Trip advisor, Newsletter & Blogs;
- Massages when needed, if able to do treatments / have some spa treatment experience;
- Potential overseeing of other projects: building / construction etc.
**HIM**:
- Overall running of the lodge, overseeing all departments including safari department / maintenance and service etc;
- Hosting of Guests - ensuring every aspect of the guests stay is perfect, and assist with service;
- Game drives and bush walks;
- Maintenance assistance and checking on vehicles;
- Stock takes;
- Occasional room checks;
- Occasional marketing on a weekly roster type basis: Facebook & Instagram, monitor Trip advisor, Newsletter & Blogs;
- Potential overseeing of other projects: building / construction etc.
