Excavator Operator

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Operation of Excavator**:

- Operate excavators to dig trenches, load/unload materials, and move dirt, rocks, and debris.
- Perform grading, leveling, and compacting surfaces per project specifications.
- Utilize various attachments (buckets, breakers, etc.) as required.

**2. Site Preparation**:

- Clear obstacles, excavate foundations, and backfill as necessary for construction projects.
- Ensure accurate sloping and excavation depths based on project blueprints and plans.

**3. Equipment Maintenance**:

- Conduct routine maintenance checks on the excavator, including oil levels, tire/track condition, and fluid levels.
- Report any mechanical issues to the site manager or maintenance team.
- Keep the machinery clean and in working condition.

**4. Safety Compliance**:

- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations, ensuring safe operation of the excavator and other equipment.
- Perform daily safety checks and ensure the work area is hazard-free.
- Use protective gear, including hard hats, vests, and other PPE.

**5. Team Coordination**:

- Communicate with site managers and team members regarding project progress.
- Work closely with other operators and laborers for smooth operations.
- Adjust to instructions provided by supervisors as needed.

**6. Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate records of materials moved, hours worked, and tasks completed.
- Complete checklists and logs related to equipment usage and maintenance.

**Skills and Qualifications**:
**Experience**:

- Minimum of **4+ years** operating excavators in a construction or civil engineering environment.
- Experience with different attachments and their uses is preferred.

**Licenses and Certifications**:

- Valid **excavator operator’s license** or certification.
- Valid driver’s license, preferably with a **Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)** for transporting machinery (advantageous).

**Technical Skills**:

- Proficient in operating excavators of various sizes, including mini and large excavators.
- Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and project specifications.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and operate machinery for long periods.
