- Develop growth and market strategy on how to approach the client together with Country Manager - Generate leads and cold calling prospective customers to unlock new project opportunities.
- Conduct market research and identify key commercial and industrial customers for distributed solar leasing and energy efficiency systems.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of business products and value proposition to negotiate with stakeholders.
- Arrange business development meetings with prospective clients face to face or over the phone and assess the site with support of technical team and then prepare an offer: draft the proposal and present, know the competition, build the advantage, offer revisions, lead negotiation with support from Legal.
- Submit a full package to risk department to fetch the IC approval, once Investment Committee approves, closing the deal/signing the agreement and transfer to PM team; Monitoring until COD - generate energy.
- Nurture and retain relationships with key customer accounts - identify and map business strengths and customer needs.
- Maintain DB of clients (referrals, RFPs, prospects) in the CRM system.
- Report on successes and areas needing improvements.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Engineering/Science degree or alternatively Commercial degree at bachelor’s level.
- 5 years professional experience, Business Development experience on high value sales and contract negotiations within the solar industry.
- Experience building and overseeing an efficient and results driven business development team.
- Strong understanding of and experience with project management and project finance.
- Experience in business plan and budget preparation and management.
- Excellent network within the SA Commercial and Industrial segments and in the solar industry (e.g., solar developers, EPCs).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Engineering/Science degree or alternatively Commercial degree at master’s level.
- Familiar with CRM processes and structure.
- Driving results-oriented behavior and a commission-driven team, hungry to win and provide excellence in customer service at all levels.
