**REQUIREMENTS**
- Min 5 years relevant retail experience in a Planning role with apparel
- Strong financial/commercial business acumen with proven track record of effective stock management in a fashion business
- Ability to coach, develop and lead a team with strong analytical skills
- Lead by example and provide support and mentoring to the Planning team
- Effective negotiation, influencing, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure, working to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of the High Street competitors and able to form educated opinions to effect commercial decisions
- High attention to detail and able to manage key relationships effectively to deliver business strategy
- Understands the customer and understand all critical path elements and impact on delivery
- Team player, confident and engaging communicator with the ability to deliver presentations and influence key stake holders
- Strong Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel)

**DUTIES**
- Achieve financial parameters and targets across appropriate categories
- Respond to sales and external market activity to maximise sale opportunities
- Maximise profit and minimise risk through stock management and realistic sales and profit forecasts with regular review and appropriate action.
- Monitor and review product balances, manage future orders where sales patterns vary to original framework, ensuring trend investment and delivery
- Review and monitor range plans regularly with Buyer.
- Initiate change to planning processes/systems ensuring improved profit performance.
- Generate ideas to improve sales and profit performance.
- Manage the in-season open to buy at department/category/season level
- Drive margin management through control of markdowns & promotional activity
- Manage terminal stock targets driving trading decisions minimising profit loss.
- Planning a strategic framework in conjunction with Buyer and Planning Manager for:

- Sales and profit, margin management, mark-down, promotional spend, pricing, store ranging, seasonal terminal targets, production plans etc.
- Produce commercial and balanced range planning framework, which reflects departmental strategy and agreed KPIs
- Incorporate space planning and relevant departmental store budget proposals into the planning process to meet store and climatic requirements.
- Work with the Buyer to regularly assess impact to the forward planning framework
- End of month/post season, work with the Buyer to identify opportunities
- Ensure Production Managers are updated monthly on production space requirements
- Maximise team performance through effective people management
- Develop the skills of the team by identifying individual training needs and develop individuals to secure succession planning initiatives
- Construct a well-balanced range framework which offers the right mix of category
- Ensure a clear price architecture which drives maximum sales and profit
- Monitor rate of sales to ensure depth and width is applied to range build process.
- Provide business summaries of high-level range balances highlighting risks
- Ensure is allocated to store based on philosophy of right store, right stock, right time.
- Oversee the stock build of new stores in a manner that maximises store potential.
- Liaise with supply chain and production, monitoring commitment and intake
- Setting of new store product plans based on targets and store demographics
- In-season reviews of profit return versus space invested and sales
- Workplace Health & Safety complying with the company policies and procedures
