**Role Purpose**:
Head the Logistics strategy and operations across Sea/Air Freight, Warehousing, Transportation Inbound/Outbound and Reverse Logistics. Develop and implement a Logistics strategy to support channel development such as e-commerce, drive efficiencies given that this role is accountable for 2nd biggest cost line. Lead the Logistics function to ensure execution of related operational processes, to deliver the relevant Key Performance Indicator of the Management Unit Southern Africa, lead the corresponding team, continuously improve the underlying processes and build and establish collaboration and exchange with all related functions within the organisation as well as respective 3PLs/Logistics Service Providers. The portfolio entails Inbound sea, land and air transport, warehousing, outbound transport and reverse logistics. This role is pivotal in managing several stakeholders including, customers, PC’s, internal functions, 3rd Parties and global procurement to actively manage and drive cost optimization, WOC and sustainable solutions within the Logistics space.

**Strategy**:

- Develop and implement local Logistics Strategy (Roadmap) & Network Footprint across Sea/Air Freight, Warehousing, Transportation Inbound/Outbound and Reverse Logistics.
- Provide guidance and knowledge support as well as participate in development of strategies related to Logistics processes to support achievement of overall business and operational targets.
- Fully responsible for the management of Freight related costs impacting “Cost of Product”, warehouse & transport costs driving “Direct Cost Of Sales”, OTIF delivery of stock both inbound and outbound impacting “Service Level” to customers and supporting achievement “Forecast Accuracy”.
- Support and lead Logistics related 3PL/LSP Tenders to select the best supplier commercially and operationally.
- Lead strategy to support with the emergence of channels such as e-commerce.
- Co-Lead (with Procurement) all Logistics 3PL Indirects Procurement Spend Tenders as a Demand Owner offering operational and commercial expertise to deliver all locally and globally steered tenders including supplier negotiations and contractual agreements.

**Key Performance Indicators**:

- Deliver the targets of the Management Unit (MU) for the Logistics related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Service Level, Logistics costs (DCS) and Logistics related savings (TPSC savings) as well as Performance Indicators (PIs) Inventory Accuracy, Pick Accuracy, In Full and On Time delivery, and Advantage survey results. Support delivering all other KPIs of Supply Chain as well as the overall MU.
- Continuously improve all Logistics related processes of the MU and ensure implementation of international best practices.
- Through 3PL/LSP management, ensure execution of operational Logistics and all related processes - mainly inbound sea, land and air transport from suppliers, warehousing, outbound transport to customers and subcontractors as well as reverse logistics.
- Manage CRT to ensure full service to customer whilst optimizing costs.

**Reverse Logistics/Claims**:

- Manage and control claims processes in conjunction with the 3PL, Finance and customers.
- Stakeholder relationship management with LSP, Sales, merchandising team, Finance and customers to ensure timely resolution of outstanding claims.
- Drive all key stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement of claims process across the business and with customers.
- Ensure that all Reverse Logistics PIs are monitored, reported and achieved through clear data transparency and insight.

**Direct cost of selling (DCS) and Optimization**:

- Manage >10 3PLs with a substantial spend p.a. across Sea/Air Freight, Warehousing, Transportation Inbound/Outbound and Reverse Logistics categories.
- Accountable for all warehousing and transport costs which accounts for BDF’s 2nd biggest cost line.
- Continuous drive to reduce costs through optimization.
- Lead joint projects with internal functions, mainly customer service to drive efficiencies through customer engagement and owning cost to serve to drive efficiency not just for DCS however TTC as well.
- Drive projects with LSP to optimise costs, including full ownership of CRT.
- Development of process and ways of working to drive lead time efficiencies and impact WOC.

**People Management**:

- Lead a team of currently 4 direct reports and 1 LSP implant.
- Continuously improve the team's employee engagement.
- Drive individual development and manage team’s individual career progression aspirations.
- Up skill team, both technically and through softer skills, to support an ever changing business landscape.
- Ensure skillsets remain relevant to new logistics developments both with the organisation and external.
- Ensure Personal targets and developments are in place and are reviewed at least twice a year.
