ThoroughTec is looking for a junior turner to join the manufacturing team. The incumbent will be required to manufacture various piece parts on the lathe.

This is a 6-month contract, with an option to join the company on a permanent basis..

**Location**:Durban, South Africa

**Core Duties**:

- Operate a lathe safely and correctly, to be able to machine piece parts in accordance with mechanical drawings
- Work within stipulated tolerances, and be able to use measuring instruments correctly
- Manufacture jigs and fixtures to assist with welding of components
- Quality check own work and complete inspection reports if required
- Some welding and sheet metal bending experience will be beneficial tasks may include drilling, tapping, milling, assembly of mechanical components.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Strict self-discipline and able to work independently for long periods of time
- Must be able to read, interpret and understand mechanical drawings
- Must be familiar with a range of hand and machine tools, including milling and drilling machines, steel cutting equipment, etc
- Some welding and sheet metal bending experience will be beneficial
- A technical or mechanical qualification/certification will be advantageous but not a requirement
- Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
