EHS Attorney

We are a team of Environmental, Health and Safety Attorneys and Environmental Assessment Practitioners who provide specialist EHS services to a range of companies across various industries within in Southern Africa.

We are in search of a legal professional who is willing to travel on a regular basis.

We require a EHS attorney with post qualification experience to assist with, inter alia, legal compliance auditing, audit report writing, monitoring EHS legislative changes and reporting to clients on these changes. Experience in EHS legislation is required. The position involves local and international travel. A current passport and a driver’s license are a must.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Regular/Routine**:

- Reporting on EHS legal changes relative to client operations
- Drafting of legal updates
- Providing EHS advisory services
- Mange an EHS legal database
- Prepare cost proposals

**Periodic Responsibilities**:

- Conduct EHS legal compliance audits
- Conduct pre-audit meetings
- Provide EHS specialist training
- Draft summaries of EHS legislation
- Prepare audit checklists
- Assist with tender submissions

**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- An understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety law required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Database understanding and ability to work with Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Drafting skills
- Willingness to travel
- Experience in writing reports

**Qualification and Experience Required**:

- Degree(s) in Law
- Admission as an attorney
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience
- Environmental, Health & Safety Legal expertise
- Computer literacy
- Afrikaans as a second / first language
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills
- Able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment

Salary range R30-R50k depending on experience.

**Timelines**:

- Interviews and assessments as required September - October 2024
- Make official offer 1 November 2024
- Start of employment 1 Jan 2025

Pay: R30 000,00 - R50 000,00 per month
