**Air Conditioning Technician**

**Duties**:

- Installation of:

- HVAC units
- Components of HVAC ductwork including:

- Flexible tubing
- Sheet metal
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC units.
- Install or repair electrical connections to HVAC components.
- Install, inspect, maintain, modify, and repair a wide variety of:

- Heating
- Ventilating
- Air conditioning systems, equipment and controls
- Make complex emergency repairs.
- Learn characteristics of new systems and equipment of the heating and air conditioning trade and update skills to adapt to changing technology.
- Keep accurate records.
- Install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, equipment, and controls on new construction, and alterations.
- Read meters and gauges and record data such as:

- Temperature of equipment
- Hours of operation
- Relays
- Coils
- Heating and condensate piping
- Controls
- Valves
- Compressors
- Fans
- Dampers
- Vents
- Blowers
- Pumps
- Burners
- Gauges, and traps
- Calibrate and adjust:

- Thermostats
- Valves
- Controls specified levels of operation.
- Answer calls for emergency repairs to:

- Heating units
- Air conditioning equipment
- Maintain heating and air conditioning hand and power tools and equipment to ensure their safe and efficient operation.
- Check equipment and operating systems and correct where necessary.
- Ensure:

- Mechanical operations, standards and controls are maintained at the highest quality.
- A high level of technical support to lower-level Technicians
- Show expertise in working with a team and independently.
- Comply with company safety guidelines and procedures.
- Comply with company and customer regulations and policies.
- Handle personal tools for job including up-to-date documented personal tool lists.
- Handle time accounting and complete work order

- HVAC Units & Controls

**Requirements**:

- At least 3-5 years’ experience in HVAC and refrigeration
- Must have good working knowledge of:

- Chillers
- Cooling towers
- VRV’s
- Ability to plan and supervise the work and instruct Junior Technicians and subordinates.
- Must have considerable knowledge of the:

- Tools
- Equipment
- Materials
- Methods, and
- Practices of several of the mechanical or related trade
- Hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Must be computer literate.
- Driver’s license

**Salary**: From R8,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
