**Purpose of role**

Responsible for the CAPS Curriculum, growth, development and overall well-being of children in their class (aged between 4 to 5 Years of age - Pre-Grade R).

**Requirements**:
**Responsibilities**
- Assume all educational and caring responsibilities for children in their class.
- Promote feelings of security and trust in children through maintaining a safe, loving and fun environment where children feel excited to explore and learn.
- Use the CAPS curriculum and its learner-centred approach to plan activities which stimulate and engage children at the developmentally appropriate level.
- Communicate regularly and honestly with parents on the development and overall well being of their children and address challenging situations where necessary.
- Work positively and collaboratively with other staff members, including to plan activities for the classes as a team.
- Participate in and lead regular professional development sessions with colleagues.
- Reflect on their work regularly, leading their personal growth strategy.
- Other responsibilities as necessary.
- Note: this is a physically challenging role and requires the teacher to stand for large portions of the day, bend, run, sit on the floor, participate in playground activities, and generally play with the children._

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Relevant Early Childhood Development qualification (NQF level 5, N6 with Diploma or BeD in Foundation Phase)
- First Aid would be an advantage
- Clear criminal record

**Experience**
- 3 years teaching children in Pre-Grade R (4 to 5 Years old)
