**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**JOB TITLE: DEBTORS CONTROLLER**

**NO.OF DIRECT REPORTS: 2**

**REPORTING TO: MANAGEMENT**

**JOB TITLES OF DIRECT REPORTS: Debtors Clerk**

**PURPOSE**:
To assist in the organizations day-to-day management and administration of all operational aspects of the debtors function of the business. To ensure that the Credit Policy is adhered to and ensure that collections occur timeously and that customers’ accounts are managed within terms and limits.

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Matric or equivalent
- Diploma in credit management or similar qualification advantageous

**WORK EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in debtors management
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management role

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**:
**Manage overall debtors’ function and debtors clerks**
- Ensure the smooth running of all areas of the debtors function
- Ensure compliance to all aspects of the group’s Credit Policy
- Ensure that debtors clerks perform their daily, weekly and monthly functions accurately and timeously

**Oversee and manage debtors balances and limits**
- Monitor debtors’ balances to ensure that customers remain within terms (e.g. within 30 days of statement)
- Monitor debtors’ balances to ensure that customers remain within approved limits
- Manage process for potential overtrading in line with group’s Credit Policy
- Manage process of collections and follow-up of outstanding balances
- Manage process of issuing customers with Letters of demand and handing over to attorneys for debt collection as and when required.

**Monthly debtors meetings**
- Present customer’s age analysis at monthly debtors’ meetings and provide feedback to management by customer
- Ensure timeous follow-up and action of points raised at debtors meetings with assistance of debtors clerks

**Operational requirements**
- Ensure that general operational requirements and controls related to the debtors function are adhered to
- Ensure with the assistance of clerks that all relevant documents are completed and filed appropriately like invoices and POD’s

**GENERAL**
- Carry out any other ad hoc duties as and when required by management

**Salary**: R18,000.00 - R25,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- High School (matric) (required)

**Experience**:

- debtors management: 5 years (required)
- managing staff: 2 years (preferred)
