Pre-primary Teacher

Purpose of role

Responsible for the growth, development and overall well-being of children in a pre-primary class.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assume all caring and educational responsibilities for children while at school, including potty training and nappy-changing.
- Promote feelings of security and trust in children through maintaining a safe and caring class environment.
- Plan activities that stimulate and engage children at the developmentally appropriate level and continually monitor and support their development.
- Communicate regularly, confidently and honestly with parents on the development and overall well-being of their children and address challenging situations where necessary.
- Work positively, collaboratively and flexibly with other staff members, including managing two assistants, to mainting a happy class team.
- Reflect on their work regularly, leading their own personal growth strategy, prioritising a regular feedback loop with the principal and colleagues.
- Other responsibilities as necessary.

Note: this is a physically challenging role and requires the teacher to stand for large portions of the day, carry babies and toddlers, bend, run, sit on the floor, participate in playground activities, and generally play with the children.

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant Early Childhood Development qualification (NQF level 6+)
- Clear criminal record

- Minimum 2 years experience working in a preschool in a class teacher role
