Internal Auditor

The University of Limpopo is looking to recruit a high-calibre individual to join its

internal audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified or partly

qualified Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) to gain experience.

The individual should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of audit

procedures, including risk driven audit planning techniques and methods. This role

interacts at all levels throughout the organisation and thus the person appointed must

have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, have good human resource

and systems skills, and good motivational and persuasive skills. Demonstrate initiative

and thrive in a challenging and goal oriented environment.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Plan and execute assignments in accordance with the IIA Standards.
- Document, evaluate and test manual and automated systems and controls.
- Prepare working papers for review by the Deputy Director, Internal Audit.
- Develop and discuss findings, recommendations and time lines for corrective

action with responsible officer of operations audited and monitor the

implementation status of agreed recommendations.
- Draft audit/assignment reports.
- Make presentations of audit results to management of the audited operation.
- Monitor the status of audit recommendations and appraise the adequacy of

follow-up actions taken on audit findings and recommendations.
- Maintain and update audit programs.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Perform other related duties as determined by the Chief Audit Executive or

Deputy Director.***

**Relevant experience and Skills**
- Bachelor’s degree in internal Audit or equivalent qualification in internal Audit

is essential.
- BCom Honours degree (Accountant/ Accountancy/ Information Technology/

Forensic Audit/ Internal Audit preferable)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA or studying to obtain it would be an advantage.
- The ideal individual should have at least 2 years of experience in planning and

executing internal audits.
