**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**
- The purpose of this role is to supervise the Fabrication shift production teams with the manufacturing processes of coin blanks and minted bars (casting, rolling, punching, weighing, blanking, packing and balancing), whilst adhering to the quality and safety standards at all times;
- It is the primary responsibility of the Fabrication supervisor to ensure that the fabrication process operation is aligned with and support daily production plan and target deliveries and fabrication daily requirement. The supervisor assists in coordinating the stock count to ensure that all material is accounted.

- Open ended, risky decisions or recommendations, requiring detailed research and analysis, where the success of the outcome may not be known for some time after making the decision.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Granulation of material found in the Induction Furnace - this includes the operation of the Induction Furnace;
- Know how to operate the Buhler rollers (also change the rollers when necessary);
- Casting of strip by the Rautomea (2 X batches per shift);
- Punching of strip by the Caxton press (Damage coin reject rate below 1%);
- Weighing of coins (complete a batch of coins 6500 per 8-hour shift);
- Grinding of coins (complete a batch of coins 6500 per 8-hour shift) (Grinding reject rate below 2% and flat reject rate below 2%);
- Weighing and grinding coins by the robot (complete weighing a batch in 8-hour shift and grind all coins from a weight of 200 mg to 350 mg);
- Polishing of 1500 minted bars per 8-hour shift;
- Minting of 1200 minted bars per shift;
- Sterilizing 1200 bars per shift;
- Packing 1200 bars per shift into certicards;
- Melting of furnace recoveries;
- Stocktake preparations;
- Issuing of clearances and safe working permits;
- Housekeeping;
- Enforce SHEQ Compliance culture and support SHEQ procedures, all deviations to procedures must be reported;
- Wear the correct PPE at all times and advise team members accordingly;
- Chair daily toolbox meetings and section’s monthly safety meetings;
- Participate in toolbox talks; bringing up topics for discussion and facilitating when required;
- Sign off safety checklist for the area of responsibility (e.g. checklists for hoists, furnaces and forklift);
- Manage the employees effectively with performance management ensuring that discipline is maintained and the LRA is adhered to in conjunction with the HR department. well-disciplined workforce, mínimal hearings and grievances;
- Ensure the training of subordinates by liaising with HR training department where required and perform on the job training ensuring competencies are developed fully;
- Plans appropriate employee training and development, in order to ensure the continued and smooth operation of the department;
- Performance and Development Reviews;
- To include recruitment, retention, staff development/coaching and mentoring;
- Ensure an effective transfer of skills within the department and perform the required assessor duties of the plant;
- Motivated team that has enough requisite variety to deal with challenges/changes without any external intervention;
- Perform plant PJOs or P.T.Os on subordinates to ensure that procedures are still followed for each task;
- Ensure cost control of consumables e.g. issuing of PPE to sub-ordinates;
- Switching off unnecessary equipment if not in use to safe electricity;
- Report faulty equipment’s that could increase electricity usage.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Grade 12;
- 3-5 years’ experience within the manufacturing industry with at least 2 years Senior Operator experience.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Computer knowledge (MS office -Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Good communicating skills (verbal and written);
- Knowledge of fabrication processes (technical and trouble shooting);
- Understanding of fabrication hazard and risks;
- Technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience;
- Chemical, metallurgical and manufacturing processes - Understand these processes in order to solve and offer improvements;
- SHEQ knowledge - Able to comply and support SHEQ procedures;
- Labour relations knowledge - Know legislation;
- Technical plant knowledge - Understand how the plant operates;
- Metal accounting knowledge - Able to perform metal accounting and balancing;
- Process knowledge - Understand how fabrication processes work;
- Do basic trouble shooting by referring to procedures;
- Perform a variety of primarily manual tasks;
- Provide clear routine communication in connection with instructions, requests or normal work tasks;
