PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Warehouse Superintendent must be business minded with a full understanding of demand and supply economics and the impact on the profitability of the organization. The overall responsibility is for managing All Finished Goods, Raw material, and maintenance stores warehouses by organizing and monitoring workflow of related materials as well as the supervision of staff members. The goal of this person is to ensure that UPP’s and UPM’s operations constantly have an adequate flow of the required materials. Therefore, this person closely works in association with the Finance department, planning department, maintenance department, procurement department and production department. A Group Supervisor helps the company in storage, control, and distribution of goods. Through his/her analysis and material management skills he/she helps the company in meeting short term and long-term production goals and helps in keeping the supply chain active throughout.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

**Supervisory Tasks**

Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Deliver solutions to warehousing & logistics problems while maintaining high levels of accuracy, quality, and service (within budgetary requirements).

Assist with annual warehouse budgeting process.

Control of capital equipment and proper utilization of equipment under his / her control.

Collaborating with other managers to determine supply needs.

Provides advice and support to other departments on planning, inventory control and warehouse matters.

Raise concerns about extra consumption of material by collecting and analyzing information from production.

Meet regularly with departmental heads and company executives to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.

Interface with supply-chain, finance, and operational heads to review BOMS, manufacturing costs and raw materials costs to develop business strategies that minimize operational and supply-chain costs to increase the company's contributions to profit.

Escalate issues to senior management within an appropriate time frame.

Provide warehouse management with end of day / shift handover information.

Ability to supervise a staff compliment of +/- 75 people.

**Inventory Management**

Verify that correct materials have been received from suppliers and ensure correct documentation is in place.

Develops and effectively implements warehouse and inventory monitoring systems and procedures.

Immediately resolves inventory discrepancies in coordination with accounting department. Analyses inventory variances per cycle count and provides immediate solution to reduce the variance to help company achieve its financial objectives.

Maintaining correct stock levels on the Sage system and company WMS.

Produce daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports and statistics regularly (in/out status report, dead stock report etc.)

**Warehouse**

Ensure that all relevant warehouse procedures are being adhered to.

Ensure all visual dashboards (pallets, stock, shunting, loads etc.) are updated daily.

Setting up layouts in warehouses to ensure efficient space utilization.

Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and managing all Material Handling Equipment and providing reports to management weekly.

Conduct general warehouse inspections and complete site audits weekly.

Create job cards for all required maintenance and track to completion.

Creation of CAR’s, OPL’s and warehouse SOPs.

**People Management**

Prepares plans and leads the entire warehouse team towards achieving the inbound and outbound objectives of the organization.

Manage, train, develop and coach a high performing team that meets the agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.

Assist with developing departmental budgets, objectives & KPI’s for the Warehouse and Warehouse sub-functions and review and assess these on an ongoing basis.

Maintain a disciplined workforce (in accordance with the Companies Policies & Procedures.

Monitor & manage daily & shift staff attendance.

Live and promote the company’s values.

Brief staff weekly on operational targets and achievements.

**Safety & Housekeeping**

Responsible for the safeness of employees and the applicable equipment used in the area.

Safeguards Warehouse operations and contents by ensuring that established security and safety procedures and protocols are followed and regularly reviewed with the SHEQ Department.

Carry out internal Health and Safety Audits as and when required.

Ensure that the department is always ISO compliant, and all findings are resolved timeously.

**Adhoc**

Assisting with ad hoc tasks and enquiries when required.

Assisting on shift if required.

Requirements - experience

Have sound knowledge of Supply Chain Management principles.

Knowledge of import and export procedures and principles.
