Automotive OEM currently sourcing a Launch Skilled Trade Specialist (Body & Paint). The Launch Skilled Trade Specialist (LSTS) plays a key role during the launch process and is a representative for the customer and the plant.
Knowledge and efforts should focus primarily on the reliability and maintainability of the machinery that is being designed, built, and installed in the plant. Support the 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift/crew build requirements.

Requirements: 3-year National Diploma in Electrical/Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering OR N4 + Trade certificate in Electrical.
Minimum of 1 year within the Automotive Maintenance Industry required as well as specific experience in the relevant department. Must have MOS (Maintenance Operating System) background and/or knowledge.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Actively participate in the early phases of concept, design and development for new machinery and equipment
Observe the equipment build and participate in the buyoff of the equipment at the supplier locations
Assist in validating the process capability of new tools and equipment
Support engineering efforts to improve reliability and maintainability of new equipment purchases or conversions, including:

- Identifying reliability/maintainability issues for new and existing equipment
- Amending Industrial Materials (I.M.) lists, also commonly referred to as spare parts lists, and Planned Maintenance (P.M.) lists to make them feasible. (The process of eliminating non-critical P.M.s and spares will also be referred to as “scrubbing” in this guide)

Participate in machinery Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEAs) as required
Ensure Baseline Signature Analyses for predictive maintenance are performed by the suppliers
Review and verify safety of Energy Control and Power Lockout (ECPL) placards
Identify and report manufacturing concerns and participate in the resolution
Identify, capture, and retain key learning or know-how related to operating and maintaining the equipment
Assist in training other skilled trade and equipment operators
Scrub” (review and eliminate) non-critical planned maintenance tasks (P.M.s) and spare parts on the P.M. and I.M. lists.
Ensure transfer of P.M.s into Maximo
Review the equipment service manuals for accuracy and completeness
Assist with the equipment try out, dry-cycling and debug
Assist in the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s) as required
Ensure equipment issues are adequately addressed and closed prior to equipment buyoff

Performance measures/ success criteria:
The specific tasks performed by the LSTS during the equipment life cycle phases will vary from plant to plant, but will conform to a minimum standard
Basic Mechanical and Electrical Conceptual Design
Have a strong background on the equipment/machinery in the operation for which they are selected

Be proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Develop relationships with people involved in the launch
Log issues into the Tooling and Equipment Issues List
Communicate tooling issues and manage their resolution
Conduct alignment meetings
Receive training in needed areas
Review equipment specifications
Collect data on existing processes employed
Develop R&M Top 10 design issues matrix
Drive design improvements addressing items in the R&M Top 10 design issues matrix
Participate in the preliminary design reviews
Suggest ergonomic and safety improvements to the process
