**Role Summary**

The Art Director role sits within the Studio, which forms part of the Operations department and reports directly to the Creative Director. This role works closely with the Project Management team, Head of Design, Copywriters and the Traffic Manager.

The purpose of the role is to produce artwork and art layouts by developing art concepts that support the development and promotion of client strategies, business problems and briefs. The incumbent will be responsible for the layout of artwork for the concepts. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing artwork in support of the pursuit of new business. It is expected that the incumbent be responsible for learning and developing his/her professional skill set within the realms of their role in the Company.

**Priorities and Accountabilities**
- Maintain and push the Company’s standard for creative excellence
- Align brands to creative ideas
- Develop engaging, high quality artwork in line with the creative brief and in a timely manner
- Understand client strategies, business problems, briefs and the message the client is seeking to deliver and translate this into high quality artwork, creative solutions and executions
- Brainstorm ideas and creative concepts with other members of the Studio and promote these within the Company
- Work under the guidance of the Creative Director
- Liaise with the Traffic Manager and Project Management team to ensure job deadlines are clearly established and adhered to
- Assist in debriefing projects with the Client Services team, Project Management team and other Studio members to assess the performance of relevant projects, measure progress, and understand areas of improvement
- Be involved in strategic development on major projects
- Ensure that all concepts for clients are in a story form (visual or written) that sells the idea to client
- Take a strategy and turn it into a big, platform idea that can live with the brand
- Be able to visualize executions for a number of channels and platforms
- Understand client strategies, business problems and briefs, and translate these into creative solutions and executions
- Be organized in terms of managing the workload he/she is given and managing his/her system of filing and backing up of artwork/work in progress
- Be proficient on the Company’s operating system e.g. ensure timesheets are loaded on time, receive and respond to tasks, load progress documents, follow naming conventions etc.
- Receive constructive feedback and use this to grow and improve
- Take initiative to constantly learn more about UX, digital, UI and your discipline
- Stay abreast of industry developments and trends, and be up-to-date with news relevant to the Company and our clients
- This list of priorities and accountabilities is not exhaustive, and the Company is entitled to instruct the incumbent, at any time, to carry out additional duties or responsibilities, which fall reasonably within the ambit of this job description, or in accordance with operational requirements
- Should a grievance be felt with regard to any instruction issued in respect of performance of this role, representation may be made by the incumbent to his/her manager or to the HR department by means of the grievance procedure, but in the first instance the instruction shall be obeyed
