Position: Bakhuijs Guide (Bakery Sales Associate/Front of House)
Location: Bakhuijs (Seaside Village, 47 Stadler Rd)

**Job Summary**:
The **Bakery Sales Associate** is a retail professional who assists guests in selecting and purchasing bakery products. The role involves providing excellent guest service, ensuring the freshness and display of baked goods, maintaining a clean environment, and handling sales transactions. The associate must adhere to company standards and procedures, including opening and closing tasks, inventory management, and incident reporting. This is a role in the service industry, which is open over weekends.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Guest Service**:

- Greeting guests, providing information about bakery products, answering questions, and helping with product selection.
- Interacting with guests in a friendly and approachable manner to ensure a positive experience.

**Sales Transactions**:

- Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions; processing sales efficiently and accurately.
- Assisting guests with their purchases and providing information about products.

**Product Knowledge**:

- Understanding the ingredients, preparation methods, and characteristics of various bakery items to inform and guide guests.

**Merchandising**:

- Arranging and displaying products attractively to encourage sales.
- Displaying cakes, baked goods, and pantry items attractively.
- Inventory Management:

- Keeping track of stock levels, restocking shelves, and informing management of low inventory or special requests.
- Checking the freshness of all products regularly and rotating stock to ensure older items are sold first.

**Cleanliness and Hygiene**:

- Maintaining a clean and organized environment at all times.
- Regularly cleaning display cases, counters, and equipment.

**Guest Orders**:

- Taking and processing custom orders for cakes, pastries, and other baked goods.

**Problem Solving**:

- Addressing guest complaints professionally and ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Writing incident reports using the Connecteam app and following the proper chain of command when handling issues.

**Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)**:

- Being knowledgeable about all company SOPs.
- Communicating any uncertainties or questions about procedures.

**Punctuality and Professional Appearance**
- Being on time for all scheduled shifts.
- Maintaining a fresh and clean appearance according to the company's dress code.

**Appearance Standards**:

- Dress Code (General):

- Maintain a fresh and clean appearance at all times.
- If an extra jacket is required, it must be a polyester jacket with a zip and no extra fluff. A buff or cloth scarf (no wool) draped tightly around the neck is allowed.
- The provided Bakhuijs apron must be worn at all times with the logo visible, even under a jacket. If the apron is stained or damaged, a new apron will be issued at your cost.
- You are responsible for keeping your uniform and apron clean at all times.
- Shoes should be comfortable and suitable for long hours of standing. Acceptable options include white or dark sneakers, lace shoes, or slip-ons. No bright colors or bold branded clothing.

Specific for Females:

- Light makeup is expected: concealer, mascara, blush, and lip gloss or light shade.
- Hair should be in a cloth wrap, mop cap, tight bun, or tight clip (no loose ponytails or hair in the face).

Specific for Males:

- Clean-shaven or well-groomed beard (beard longer than 5mm must be covered with a beard mask).

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in retail or food service is preferred.
- Strong communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to handle complaints and difficult situations professionally.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about bakery products and industry standards.

**Working Conditions**:

- Standing for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying bakery items.
- Working in a fast-paced environment.
- Hospitality hours, working on weekends
