We are looking for an energetic educator, with a proven track record with staff management experience, who is passionate about the Montessori philosophy and principles and loves tackling new challenges to fill a position in our Primary School age (6-12).

This role presents itself as a management role with some teaching and is primarily responsible for leading a team to deliver high-quality educational experiences while contributing to enhancing the curriculum for our school, alongside a young and passionate team.

**Responsibilities include**:
**Student experience**:

- Develop a variety of teaching and instructional resources for individuals and groups of students.
- Create, capture and conduct lesson plans.
- Monitor the academic performance of the students, aligned with the outcomes of the lesson plans that are in line with Montessori standards.
- Work with class teachers to foster and monitor the social-emotional development of each student.
- Review holistic performance of students and teachers on a regular basis.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities and organisations as required.
- With the assistance of the Director of Education, ensures that program quality is maintained and that classrooms have appropriate instructional materials.

**Leadership**:

- Mentoring, coaching, developing, and motivating the teachers in your team to enable them to facilitate transformative learning experiences.
- Using the Montessori philosophy and core principles to ensure that the quality of content meets the required standards.
- Update student records with socio-emotional, behavioural and academic insights gained through teacher-student interactions.
- Meet with the teachers to identify student progress, trends and ways to improve the program.
- Be the first line of escalation with your team with regards to any operational or educational issues that need to be discussed with the Management.
- Provides leadership for activities which affect the current and future development of the school (such as strategic planning and setting curricular goals).
- Assumes the responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school.
- Acts as liaison between the Management and the school.
- Oversees the Educational Program of the school.
- Supervises all staff, both teaching and non-teaching.
- Provides administrative and professional leadership for staff.
- Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the school.

**Community of practise**:

- Engage in lesson observations with fellow teachers as HOD to maintain quality assurance of instruction to enable personal and peer improvement through feedback, coaching and mentorship.
- Engage in regular professional development opportunities to further a deep knowledge and understanding of the Montessori philosophy.
- Engage in advancing educational knowledge and practice to enable teachers to enhance their thinking, evidence-based decision making, and engagement in the professional community of educators within the Montessori community.

**Parent Involvement**:

- Refer problems to the Head of School if they cannot be solved individually.
- Maintain respectful relationships with all parents respecting their rights.
- Ensures that all staff have quality Montessori professional growth opportunities.
- Participates in the selecting and hiring of properly-qualified persons to serve as members of the faculty.
- Builds relationships with prospective and current parents supporting the admission and retention of children in the school.**Key requirements for the role**:

- 3-5 years teaching experience at Pre and primary school level, with either BEd or PGCE qualification, along with a Montessori Qualification.
- Has been exposed to Cambridge Curriculum.
- Experience in staff management/leading a team is advantageous.
- Experience in curriculum building.
- Ability to engage with students from various backgrounds and cultures is key to a successful teaching experience.
- Adept in a technological environment.
- Operationally savvy.
- Professional proficiency in English and Afrikaans
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent administrative and reporting skills.
- Must be comfortable working independently and leading a team.
- Valid South African Police clearance required.
- Sexual Offenders Affidavit required.

**Salary**: From R1.00 per month
