Deputy Unit Manager

**DEPUTY UNIT MANAGER - TRAUMA**

**Requirements**:

- Current Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- A Post Basic Diploma or equivalent in Emergency Nursing or Trauma
- Current training in Basic, Advanced and Pediatric Life Support in essential
- At least five years relevant experience in a leader/shift leader position in a Trauma Unit
- Excellent leadership abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of the Kronos System
- Own transport would be advantageous
- Ability to work flexible shifts

**Key Outputs**:

- Manage the clinical nursing standards in the Trauma Unit
- Assist the Unit Manager to manage all administrative duties

Deputise for the Unit Manager
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of staff
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures at all times
- Manage the day-to-day problem solving, including stock control
- Conduct regular inspections
- Form part of the resuscitation team (code blue)
- Maintain infection control strategies and procedures of the hospital
- Maintain health and safety principles
- Evaluation, intervention and resolution of patient complaints and queries
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Manage ad hoc projects as and when required
