**Job Advert Summary**:
**PURPOSE**:

- To provide support to Senior Specialist Commercial and Commodity Engineer with regards to execution of commodity strategy.

**MAJOR CHALLENGES**:

- Providing commodity management service to multiple business units.
- Improve in terms of cost-effectiveness, innovation and productivity.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- B Degree (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)

**EXPERIENCE**:
3-5 years Relevant Supply Chain Management experience or commodity exposure (Essential/Minimum) Operational

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conduced by Exxaro)

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Best Practice and Knowledge Management**
- Support implementation of process and system enhancements to improve operations within commodity area
- Act as business improvement process champion for commodity area by liaising with other departments
- Evaluate commodity performance against best practice and actual performance
- Support with observation, measurement and monitoring of commodities on location
- Evaluate new and/or alternate products in conjunction with end users and submit recommendations

**Compliance, Governance and Assurance**
- Assist in the implementation of portfolio targets in alignment with legislation and charters (e.g. Mining Charter, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), etc.)
- Assist in the preparation of reports and feedback on appropriate commercial management reporting and governance requirements

**Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management**
- Obtain sign-off of plans for specific commodities within area of responsibility
- Manage internal and external relations including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure business needs are met
- Provide relevant and specialised support to applicable stakeholders
- Support on-boarding of new suppliers and manage supplier relationships
- Conduct supplier performance reviews
- Track, monitor, investigate and report on commodity and supplier key performance indicators

**Functional Excellence**
- Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end
- to-end processes, tools, templates etc.
- Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes and eliminating duplication/ bureaucracy
- Assist in the execution of functional excellence initiatives

**Functional Management**
- Financial management: Assist in managing and reducing costs of the sub-functions
- Continuous improvement and functional change: Identify, advocate for and lead functional improvement and change. Create a culture of continuous improvement and change agility in function
- Engagement/communication: Engage with managers, operations and cross
- functionally with peers
- Governance: Ensure function adheres to governance, policies and standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline

**Internal Business Processes**
- Participate in cross functional money teams to focus on value creation initiatives
- Provide technical inputs to end-users and commercial team members to ensure fit for purpose contracts
- Assist with resolving technical contractual matters and ensure contracts support commodity strategy

**People Management**
- Performance management: Adhere to performance management procedures
- Culture/functional climate: Uphold the culture and values within the function. Foster effective teamwork and unity

**Safe and Healthy Work Environment**
- Maintain and ensure a healthy environment and safe operations practices
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
- Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations

**Technical Commodity Management**
- Participate in cross functional money teams to focus on value creation initiatives
- Facilitate and draft scope of work for commodity (Request for Quote (RFQ)/ Request for Proposals (RFPs)/Request for Information (RFI))
- Assist in the maintenance of portfolio strategic contracts
- Increase contract base by contract establishment
- Liaise with Business Units (BU’s) on inventory holding levels for commodities
- Assist in material resource planning for commodity based purchases
- Manage supplier and vendor performance
- Contribute to supplier development
- Influence supplier base in terms of involvement with local economic development initiatives
