**JOB DESCRIPTION: BAKERY MANAGER**
- Oversee operations and staffing for the **bakery** department.
- Manage pastry making and baking
- Suggest changes to inventory and pricing
- Manage supplies
- Monitor quality of goods and service
- Responsible for department staff training, assignments, and scheduling.
- Ensure freshness of all bakery items and food in a bakery.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in the bakery area.
- Greet customers and provide quality personalized service.
- Coordinate with store manager and other bakery staff in serving customers.
- Maintain and control inventory of baked items.
- Replenish food items according to the customers demand and needs.
- Ensure that bakery items are baked or cooked according to the customers’ tastes and needs.
- Ensure that nutritional values are not lost in baking, processing or cooking items.
- Ensure deliciousness in baked items to attract customers.
- Ensure compliance of all food processing laws and regulations.

**Baking and Pastry Art**

A bakery manager ensures that fresh ingredients and supplies are available when daily production starts in the early morning hours. As a bakery manager, you and your staff will make delectable treats, such as pies, cakes, cookies, rolls and assorted breads. Being an experienced designer, you will demonstrate icing techniques for creating intricate piping, borders and flowers. Your reputation for selling unusual desserts and spectacular cakes can cultivate your reputation as the bakery of choice in town, which is where we would like to position ourselves.

**Training and Supervision**

As Bakery manager you would be responsible for adequately training and supervising bakery department employees in the shop. Ensure that the department employees are enthusiastic, hardworking, dexterous, imaginative and dependable. On-the-job training starts with familiarizing new hires with workplace policies, safety procedures, personal hygiene expectations, cleaning requirements, proper dress and customer relations. You are required to teach and supervise employees to ensure that proper procedures are being followed to produce and sell a quality product.

**Safety and Sanitation**

The bakery manager needs to keeps a close eye on kitchen operations. Workplace safety and food safety standards must be a top priority. Workers can be permanently injured by improper use of industrial equipment, such as ovens and large dough mixers. Although everyone shares in the responsibility of cleanliness and pest control, the bakery manager is ultimately responsible if a customer complaint is received or the health inspector finds violations. Equipment and dishes must be thoroughly sanitized and precautions taken at all levels to prevent foodborne illness
