A highly skilled Data Governance Analyst who is keen to play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of Clients' data assets. Such an individual will have been in the same role or similar where they have developed a proven track record and have therefore developed a strong understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and data quality concepts.

**Responsibilities**:

- Data governance specialists have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

- Reviewing data sources to identify any gaps in coverage that require additional data collection efforts.
- Developing and implementing data security policies to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or use.
- Establishing data standards for a company’s database environment, including defining fields and creating rules for data entry and retrieval.
- Reviewing use of data by company departments to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
- Creating reports on data trends across departments and regions within an organization to help identify opportunities for improvement or changes in strategy.
- Collaborating with business managers to ensure that data quality is maintained over time.
- Developing policies on acceptable methods for reporting results and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Working with IT staff to maintain databases by adding new data or updating existing data sets.
- Developing a database management plan for large scale data analysis project.

Experience
- 7+ years of experience in Data Management Framework development and implementation.
- Experience with Data Governance frameworks such as Dama-DMBOK or the like are needed and experience and efficiency with data governance toolsets and technologies are preferred.
- You would need to be an excellent analytical thinker and be able to rely on strong problem-solving skills, while also being proficient in data profiling, lineage and metadata management tools.

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, data management or a related field
- 5-7 years proven experience in Data Governance Specialist

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: R700.00 - R800.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelors (required)

**Experience**:

- Data Management: 10 years (required)
- Data Governance: 7 years (required)

License/Certification:

- certified data engineering certificate (required)
