**Main purpose of the job**:

- To coordinate and manage the follow-up data collection of the Middle-Aged Soweto Cohort

**Location**:

- **DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Managing the follow-up data collection of the MASC
- Manage regulatory and ethics-related matters for the study
- Assist with trial documentation development and maintenance of study records
- Oversee sample storage and inventory
- Maintain a good system for reporting daily study activities
- Review data as set out by the study protocol and ensure completeness of data collection
- Community engagement and participant feedback on results
- Compiling and submission of study progress reports
- Review, evaluate and tracking and tracing the progress
- Oversee REDCap database and liaise with data managers
- Supervise and manage the duties of research staff to ensure optimal staff utilization and maintenance of sound labor relations
- Manage the day-to-day running of the study
- Set study recruitment/enrolment and retention targets for the team and ensure that they are met
- Manage and train research staff to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organization
- Maintaining stock levels and ordering of consumables when required

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Degree in Health Sciences**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **2 years experience in research and managing a research team and project**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Staff supervisory experience and/or experience managing research studies or fieldwork would be an advantage
- Ability to function in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and pay attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a diverse team
- Computer literacy - competence in REDCap, MS Word, and Excel essential
- Able to exercise discretion and independent decision making
- Well organized
- Problem solver. Ability to engage with the community in which the study is conducted
