**The role**:

**What you'll do**:

- Ensuring proper device installation and maintenance in the areas of haematology, biochemistry, immunochemistry, and microbiology
- Ensuring all devices are properly functioning, by setting up and maintaining an excellent QC and QA system in compliance with national and international guidelines for medical laboratory testing
- Defining Standard Operating Procedures for all tests performed in the lab
- Ensuring the lab specimens are correctly received, labelled, registered and stored
- Ensuring the correct use of the Lab Management System for timely results delivery
- Ensuring the lab stocks the right number of reagents and consumables and they are timely replenished when needed
- Ensuring the costs of reagents are correctly accounted for in the inventory system against the tests performed
- Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross contamination or misidentified samples
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment

**Operations**:

- Implement the plans of the Medical Director, Doctor and Manager
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement effective solutions that support both business and quality objectives
- Advise and assist the team with innovative ideas in the field of diagnostics and healthcare
- Continuously improve operational execution through attention to detail and adherence to operating and safety standards
- Communicate any equipment maintenance or needs to the Clinic Manager and ensure repairs are completed as efficiently as possible
- Be receptive to guidance and actively collaborate with the senior team to ensure the optimal performance of the center
- Flexibility with your schedule is necessary to meet the business needs and accommodate the centre’s operating hours
- Report all safety and medical incidents to the Clinic Manager

**Requirements**:
**Education/Experience Requirements**:

- BSc or MSc degree in medical laboratory science
- Registered with HPCSA/SMLTSA
- Experience with lab accreditation process
- 3 - 5 years experience as a Laboratory Manager
- Experience with ISO 15189, 17025

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy while being adaptable to a dynamic environment
- Proficient in organising, logging, and analysing data with a strong knowledge base
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Great communication skills and ability to work efficiently and effectively

- 21 days paid leave with some days being compulsory between Christmas and new year whilst the clinic is closed

The starting salary for this role is between 20,000 - 35,000 rand per month, depending on skills and experience.
