Edublox Kempton Park Tutor/Teacher - INTERMEDIATE PHASE

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning:

- Create a safe and nurturing learning environment that stimulates positive learning and actively engages learners in the learning process
- To take on a leadership role in respect of the foundation phase.
- Design and deliver learning programmes according to the DCAPS / CAPS curriculum, engaging in-class teaching that will foster purposeful progression in learning
- Teach in a dual-language, multigrade context (combined Grade 2,3&4)
- Understand, support and effectively teach learners with a range of learning difficulties, differentiating learning to be relevant for each learner's cognitive, academic and literacy development levels
- Recognise that learning is an active process and be prepared to use a variety of strategies to meet the outcomes of the curriculum
- Enable learners to succeed and build their self-esteem, confidence and resilience
- Plan, coordinate, control, administer, evaluate and report on learners' academic progress.
- Manage and utilise available Learning Resources and Technology in Teaching

Learner Welfare:

- Manage and support day-to-day behaviour and emotional development in line with the learner code of conduct and discipline policy, keeping records of incidents, observations, and communication with parents
- Assist the Franchisee/Manager in identifying aspects that require special attention and assist in addressing them
- Assist the Franchisee/Manager in overseeing learner counselling and guidance, discipline and the general welfare of all learners, including attending meetings with parents and partaking in setting, implementing and monitoring progress on Behaviour Plans

Professional:

- To control and coordinate stock and equipment, which is used and required.
- Read, understand and implement policies where required.
- Cooperate with colleagues of all grades to maintain a good teaching standard and progress among learners and to foster administrative efficiency within the school
- Participate in agreed school/educator appraisal processes to regularly review their professional practice to improve teaching, learning and management
- Contribute to the professional development of colleagues by sharing knowledge, ideas and resources
- Meet parents and discuss with them the conduct and progress of their children.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Qualifications:

- Qualified Teacher (Foundation Phase/Intermediate Phase/Retired teacher), SACE registered OR currently studying towards a BEducation or PGCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE) OR
- Qualified high school teachers (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- Desirable: Remedial / Special Needs Qualification.
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English (Teaching, speaking and understanding
- NON-NEGOTIABLE)

**Experience**:

- Minimum 2-5 years teaching/tutoring experience at Foundation Phase level/Intermediate/Senior/FET (NON-NEGOTIABLE) WITH CONTACTABLE REFERENCES
- Must have experience teaching children with learning difficulties (Advantageous)

Personal Skills / Knowledge:

- A passion for teaching children who experience learning challenges
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Afrikaans (NOT NEGOTIABLE)
- Good knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and sound knowledge of intermediate phase CAPS documents
- Good understanding of learning challenges and adapting teaching practices to address these
- Deep understanding of emotional and behavioural development; positive teaching practices
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Internet

**Salary**: From R5,500.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Kempton Park, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelors (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Tutoring, teaching: 2 years (required)

**Language**:

- English and Afrikaans (required)
