Cape Town, South Africa Forest Edge Preschools Full time

Educare House is a warm and fun-loving preschool & aftercare situated around the corner from Kirstenhof Primary School (KPS) in Kirstenhof. We provide preschool for children aged 4 months - 6 years and Aftercare for children from KPS for Grades R-7. We are looking for a Grade R and Aftercare teacher. This teacher will be the Grade R class teacher, and will also support our Aftercare children with their homework and manage the relationships with the aftercare children’s parents.

Key elements of the role:

- Responsible for the care, management and education of children in their care, ensuring the children feel loved, supported and happy, and are developing appropriately
- Ensure educational activities are planned in line with the CAPS curriculum, using the school’s planning system and incorporating the school’s ethos and themes.
- Communicate with parents of the Grade R and Aftercare children, ensuring strong, positive relationships and bringing them along on their children’s educational journey, in line with the school’s communication guidelines
- Have fun and play with the children during free play

Specifically, we are looking for someone who:

- Is warm, kind and caring
- Is fun-loving and enjoys having fun and being silly, dancing and playing with children in their care
- Is a team player, happy to chip in wherever needed
- Has a positive, can-do attitude when faced with challenges
- Strives for excellence, continually looking for ways to improve things around them and themselves as a teacher

Position details:

- Start date: January, 2025
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00
- Leave: 15 days (note, we only close for December holidays)

Qualification required:

- Non-negotiable: B.Ed or Grade R diploma
