**VACANCY - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR**

**DOCTOR**

We require the services of a **Locum Doctor** to attend to patient care within our community nursing division as well as assist in our
In-Patient Unit at Kenilworth when so required and meeting all set standards. Shifts of 8 hours at a time are available as well as on
- call duties.

**ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**
- Recognised Degree in Medicine (MBChB) and a minimum of combined 10 years’ experience in a patient care environment
- A Postgraduate Qualification in Palliative Medicine (added advantage) and/or experience within a palliative care setting
- Registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- Experience in clinical risk management and safety protocols
- Unendorsed driver’s licence
- Fluency in at least 2 official languages and an understanding of palliative care and its role in society (added advantage)

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
During the week (Monday to Friday) the Contractor will be required to be available telephonically both for the community staff and the IPU staff with a mandatory in-person ward round daily. The contractor will be informed prior to any possible IPU admissions by the Registered Nurse for either guidance through the admission process or physically being present for the admission. The ward round can also coincide with any admissions scheduled by the IPU Registered Nurse.

Over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) the Contractor will be required to be available to provide telephonic consults to the In
- Patient Unit (IPU) team members and conduct a mandatory ward round in the IPU any time between 09:00-17:00 per Saturday and Sunday, which will need to be committed to by informing the Registered Nurse on duty before the time.

Invoices to be submitted with Statistics and timesheets at the end of the month or after each contractor shift.
