**MAINTENANCE MANAGER**

Reporting Line**:Ops Manager**

Location**:Durbanville, Capw Roqn**

**Main purpose of the role**

**To lead the site maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service to all operational equipment, facilities and infrastructure. Responsible for ensuring that the facilities, infrastructure and machinery used in production run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical and electrical equipment.**

**Key responsibilities**
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and all projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works.
- Adhere to daily and weekly checks to ensure reliable operation of the site.
- Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out and lead the team to deliver effectively.
- Schedule both internal and external work to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Manage the team to ensure machine availability, proactively managing dysfunctional machinery with the shift management.
- Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure.
- Manage systems and equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy.
- Perform root cause analyses to resolve problems.
- Provide technical expertise to the team.
- Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
- Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements.
- Ensure that the maintenance department operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
- Responding quickly to any emergencies.

**People Management**
- Manage, coach and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best result, added value and continuous improvements.
- Set department objectives/KPI’s and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
- Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems.
- Undertake continuous training and development.

**Financial and Budget Control**
- Take responsibility for maintenance budgets.
- Prepare the annual Maintenance budget and forecasts for all Capital Expenditure (Capex) proposals.
- Manage the budget from inception to completion of projects.

**Relationship Management**
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy.
- Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on engineering design and development.
- Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost.
- Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers and other service providers.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Matric with N6 relevant qualification (qualified artisan - electrical or mechanical).
- 6-8 years’ relevant maintenance experience of which 3 years’ minimum in a management position.
- Good all-round mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- FMCG knowledge and experience advantageous.
- Must be computer literate.
