Key purpose of the role
To plan, write, compile, and deliver news bulletins in keeping with EWN brand print.
Key outputs/accountability
Identify lead stories.
Write up stories.
Subbing news stories.
Compile news bulletins.
Record and edit audio.
Ensure quality scripts and audio.
Read news bulletin.
Conduct live crossings with reporters.
Work directly with the online team.
Meet tight deadlines.
Report on local and national news events.
Develop and maintain contacts.
Supervise news vehicles effectively.
Educational qualifications

Diploma/degree in journalism or relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s licence.
Required knowledge and experience
Minimum of three years’ experience.
Needs to have covered a wide range of stories.
Requires an excellent network of contacts.
Must be well respected as a journalist.
Passionate about news and setting the news agenda in the industry.
Knowledgeable in current affairs - local, national, international news.
Good political contacts - constantly updated on news, newspapers, radio news, internet, TV news.
Required skills
Excellent reading and writing skills in English.
Excellent radio voice.
Excellent interviewing skills.
Ability to meet half-hourly deadlines.
Knowledge of digital editing.
Keen 'news sense'.
Self-starter, able to deliver under mínimal supervision.
Willingness to learn all aspects of EWN - from anchoring to reporting to online.
