**Nuclear Medicine Radiographer**
Jackpersad & Partners are the largest independent Radiology Group in KZN providing advanced radiological imaging.
We are looking for a professional and competent **Nuclear Medicine Radiographer**for our **Westridge Venue**. The Nuclear Medicine Radiographer’s primary function is to prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and to perform nuclear medicine and PET/CT scans to patients within the prescribed radiation control measures, providing direct care and high-quality diagnostic imaging service to the radiologists, patient and referring doctors.
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicine Radiographer
- National Diploma / BTech in Nuclear Medicine / BHSc in Nuclear Medicine Technology
- HPCSA Registered (Independent Practice)
- Ensure achievement of CPD compliance
- Ability to work during weekends or at night (when on call)
- Ability to travel to cover shifts at other venues within KZN
- Provide relief at venues when required due to short staff (emergencies, leave etc.)
- The physical stamina necessary to stand for long periods of time and lift patients who need help moving
- Experience using imaging equipment:
- PET CT Scanner
- SPECT Scanner
- Gamma Probe
- Centrifuge
**Duties**:
- Explain procedures to patients and answer all questions (obtaining medical history from patient, assessing patient weight, performance of glucose test and filing of Section 21 forms for each patient with consent
- Contribute towards student training and continuous professional development
- Explaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.
- Producing computer-generated or film images for interpretation by the Radiologists and in an appropriate format for Radiologists.
- Reviewing scan with radiologists, liaising with oncologists
- Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.
- Processing images on the brain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver on the computer.
- Monitoring patients for unusual reactions to radioactive drugs.
- Keeping detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the procedure.
- Injection of patient under prescribed conditions, using heavy lead equipment and safety measures
- Administration of oral contrast and monitoring of patient
- Reconstitute freeze-dried pharmaceuticals according to the respective pamphlets.
- Prepare room and select acquisition parameters according to protocol
- Fusion of PET and CT images where applicable
- Be part of a multidisciplinary nuclear medicine/radiology team.
