Sernior Service Techician

Our client a leading manufacturer and supplier of packaging machinery and equipment to the food and beverage industries are looking to employ an experienced, hard-working and capable artisan in the role of Senior Service Technician involved in the installation, maintenance & servicing of end-of-line packaging machinery, for food and beverage companies.

The person should have experience in visiting clients and be able to communicate effectively with them when there is a technical issue to be addressed. The person will be the face of the company and the first point of call for a sometimes upset customer.

This position will be based at Jet Park, Johannesburg.

The primary tasks include:

- Installation & commissioning of end-of-line packaging equipment
- Repairs, maintenance & fault-finding on equipment
- Manage all maintenance parts
- Deal directly with overseas suppliers
- Communicate directly with customers
- Provide training for technicians & staff in customer’s factories
- Travel to customer sites for installations, maintenance and breakdowns
- Audit equipment
- National Senior Certificate
- Minimum required qualification: Electrician/Millwright (Trade Tested)
- 8 - 10 years’ experience working on packaging equipment in a food and beverage environment
- Have strong electrical experience
- Excellent computer skills
- A service driven approach to dealing with customers and maintaining customer relationships
- Able to cope under pressure and respond quickly to customer requests
- A professional manner, with excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Presentable and confident to deal directly with customers
- Flexible and willing to work longer hours when required
- Willing to travel
- Driver’s license

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

- Certificate (required)

**Experience**:

- electrician/millwright: 8 years (required)
- communicating directly with customers: 4 years (required)
- electrical: 8 years (required)
- packaging machinery in food and beverage industry: 8 years (required)

**Language**:

- fluent in Afrikaans and English (required)

License/Certification:

- Trade Test as a Electrician or Millwright (required)
- Drivers' license (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 50% (preferred)
