We have an opportunity for a Technical Manager (Power Operations) for a telecommunication company in the Sandton area but this will be on a hybrid working model.

**Requirements**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- An Electrical Engineering Degree / B-Tech degree or diploma
- MSc will be beneficial
- Certifications:

- SANS 10142-1 & SANS 10142-2 certification
- Data Centre Design (CDCDP®)
- Training Courses:

- Carbon footprint analyst
- Solar PV testing
- PV solar for professionals
- Structural design for non-structural engineers
- Legal responsibilities and accountability
- Practical earthing, bonding, lightning and surge protection of electrical and electronic equipment
- Practical electrical safety techniques for industry

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:

- At least fifteen years’ work experience in the telecoms industry, which includes:

- Technical management experience: at least 10 years
- Product & Solution Manager: at least 10 years
- Project management experience: at least 5 years
- People management experience: at least 5 years
- Technical competencies could typically include:

- Computer literacy, e.g., MS Office suite;
- Other systems, such as Oracle Analytics, and the ticketing system (Sales Force)
- Project management skills
- Process management skills
- Analytical skills
- Research skills (to stay abreast of new trends and developments in the industry)
- Business report writing skills (including presentation skills)
- Power-related technical skills

**Duties**:
**SUMMARY**:

- To be responsible for the technical performance of the Power business
- To ensure good governance, compliance and risk management
- To ensure that the Power business is operating within the company’s Global and Africa sustainability targets

**E**SSENTIAL DUTIES**:
**Power business strategy implementation**
- Responsible for the implementation of the market strategy (product performance, and the operations thereof) and for solution dimensioning (i.e., design and customisation of solutions).
- Documents and adheres to the regional and market Product Roadmap (both hardware and software) for all products making up the overall Power Solution.
- Works with Product Vendors for the resolution of product faults (both hardware and software).
- Responsible for the execution of market-specific, approved PoCs for new product introduction, closely collaborating and taking direction from the Region and Solution Design Team.

**Contribution to financial performance of the Power business**
- Contributes to the Power business unit’s financial goals/targets by operating within the expected revenues, direct expenses, overhead expenses and profit margin.

**Power business operations and performance**
- Responsible for the optimal performance of Power Systems in the field.
- Responsible for functional processes, procedures and governance for the successful delivery of the Power business.
- Reports regularly to the Head of Power Operations on the Power business’ performance.
- Provides reporting to the customer on the Power business’ performance.
- Engages and collaborates with internal teams to deliver the Power business operations.
- Supports and works hand in hand with the Power Contract Manager, and participates in customer engagement meetings.
- Co-ordinates daily, weekly and monthly performance activities and decisions within the team.
- Participates in root-cause analysis when resolving performance issues.

**Operational risk management**
- Responsible for managing risks associated with the Power business operations.

**Sustainability**
- Responsible for operating a Power business within the required emissions targets.

**People management**
- Responsible for inspiring, motivating, leading, and managing the team.
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, and retention of relevant skills in order to meet the functional needs.
- Ensures the effective selection of functional staff by matching the skills and competencies to the requirements of the job.
- Ensures skills assessments and competency-based training takes place as and when required.
- Builds organisational capabilities through evaluating likely future requirements and ensuring that individuals are provided with the best possible development opportunities in line with these.
- Creates an environment in which learning, and development are emphasised and valued.
- Takes personal responsibility for coaching and mentoring others.
- Effectively delegates authority and responsibility, in line with business objectives, to ensure the empowerment, motivation and effectiveness of all direct and indirect reports.
- Promotes a culture where the values of the organisation are seen to be ‘alive’.
- Encourages team members to express their views, resolves issues raised by the team, escalates issues if required, and provides feedback to teams on an ongoing basis.
