National Category Buyer

**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Form strong relationships with strategic suppliers for the sourcing of product within this category on a national level.
- Negotiate favourable terms with suppliers to achieve the expected growth within the poultry category on a daily basis.
- Monitor trends and market conditions to make best-in-class decisions when purchasing and negotiating.
- Manage an efficient supply chain to improve lead times, stock-outs, under stocks and reduce unnecessary costs in the current supply chain.
- Communicate the requirements for this category both to suppliers and internally within the business.
- Enforce quality standards and governance with current or new suppliers.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
- **Proven experience of at least 3-5 years in the procuring of poultry as a category buyer.**

**COMPETENCIES REQUIRED**
- Building and maintaining relationships in support and living out the company culture.
- Friendly, helpful, confident yet humble, and able to work well in a team.
- Ability to work in a highly competitive and dynamic environment.
- Ability to analyse data using the available BI software.
- Strong communication skills with suppliers and with internal colleagues.
- Work in a high-pressure environment that is ever-changing.
- High decision-making ability to make sound judgement decisions.
- Ability to embrace new technologies and change to best practice within the industry.
- Manage the category with regards to sales value.
