**Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan 30km east from Pretoria.

**Reference No: CUL649 Job Grade: C2
**ROLE DESCRIPTION**:Reporting to the Shiftboss**, **the role will control the ore extraction to ensure optimal utilisation of people and

equipment to obtain production and safety targets.

**TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: **
- Ensures that mining equipment is used correctly (efficiently and effectively) by:
- Ensuring that mobile equipment is positioned correctly, e.g. dust extraction units are operational so that they can clear
- the working space of dust effectively.- Ensuring that equipment is used in accordance with the operating manual; and/or defined procedures/accepted (and
- approved) practice; and/or OEM specifications.- Ensuring that equipment is used to maximum/ planned effect e.g. by selecting correct type and density of explosives.

Wires the round in accordance with relevant safety procedures and wiring principles, making sure that the correct delays,
detonators, shot exploders etc. are used in order to produce the correct sequence of explosions.

Execute the Mine Plan by controlling overbreak / underbreak and ensuring the excavation is kept on line and on grade.

Ensures that the necessary safety precautions are taken before detonating explosives.
- Responsible to check underground conditions by:
- conducting visual inspection of side, hanging and foot walls for; any sign of danger e.g. exfoliating / loose rock,
- misfired holes, loose, missing or damaged support work;- conducting instrument and visual tests (as appropriate) for the presence of noxious or toxic gasses;
- damaged pipes, electric wires or ventilation columns;
- barring down loose ground, marking of eyebolt or roof bolt holes;
- ensure legal compliance with machine guarding.

Responsible to install, maintain, support and remove temporary support in mining excavations.

Responsible for collecting, handling, transporting and storing explosives.

Responsible for planning, controlling, leading and organising repairs and breakdowns.

Supervise and execute blasting operations such as controlling of explosives, preparing working face for blasting, charging up
of face and sites, conducting blasting and treating misfires.

Supervise or execute tasks related to block caving/SLC.

Control the utilisation of allocated and other resources.

Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implementing corrective actions to ensure attainment of the production plan.

Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report
on non-compliance issues.

Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the work place.

Perform risk assessments (Activity Based and Mini).

Responsible for examining, making and declaring workplaces safe and healthy for work.

Responsible for testing, monitoring and controlling gases.

Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non
- compliance issues.

Ensure that all Mining reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.

Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Mining Function.

Supervises subordinates in the designated area..

Effective Team Player and Effective Self-Management.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: **

Grade 12 / NQF Level 4

Blasting Certificate OR National Certificate Rock breaking Underground Hard Rock Level 3.** **

A minimum of 2 years relevant mining experience after obtaining a blasting certificate.** **

Trackless Development experience - **please indicate clearly on CV**.** **

Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid Drivers’ License**
**TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: **

Conduct primary and secondary rock breaking operations in a safe and proper manner in accordance with legislation
requirements.

Control the utilisation of resources

Demonstrate understanding of explosives handling.

Identify hazards or potential hazards and follow the appropriate procedures.

Have knowledge and skill in adhering to occupational safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and legislative
requirements.

Licensed and be able to operate machinery and equipment under area of control.
