**Primary objective of the role**

A successful Machinist should be able to carry out his basic duties with ease and competence. The Machinist will be responsible for operating Conventional machines, predominately toss horizontal boring mill but also lathe, milling machine and vertical boring mill.

**Primary Duties**
- Operate conventional machines which include Toss horizontal boring mill, lathe and milling machines as well as a vertical boring mill.
- Examine detailed drawings or specifications to establish job, material and equipment requirements
- Do first off and process checks as per job specification
- Operate machines to produce parts by turning, boring, milling and/or shaping
- Observe machine operations to detect work piece defect or machine malfunctions and adjust where necessary
- Ensure that tasks are completed in line with operational procedures
- Capture job times on production computer

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Matric or NQF equivalent
- Qualified Turner (Red Seal)
- 5 - 10 years’ experience turner experience
- Strong communication and team work skills
