**Job Description**:
The IT SLIMS Coordinator will be responsible to provide service activities on company systems, including installation, discontinuance, relocation, diagnosis, emergency repair etc. while minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring client satisfaction, and assisting less experienced field engineers by providing on-the-job training and work direction as well as to be responsible for supporting SGS’s client base

Specific Responsibilities
- Supporting Laboratories with LIMS - coordinating issues, functionality and improvements of the system
- Direct the information and data integrity of the company and its business units
- Implement IT projects in the region and objectives of the information technology needs of the company to ensure the computer capabilities are responsive to the needs of the company's growth - including configuration of LIMS systems for new and existing sites
- Providing bi-weekly project updates for new LIMS projects
- Self-development within the IT team
- Stay up to date with relevant technologies to support SGS environment
- Use and provide input for improvement of operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology
- Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements
- Control the quality, timeliness and costs of the (IT) projects
- Ensure the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment
- Assist with implementation, support and revision of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans
- Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company
- Assess new computing technologies to determine the potential value for the company
- Establish company infrastructure to support and guide individual divisions/departments/sites in computing and information technology efforts

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Grade 12
- Relevant A+/N+ or MCDST University Degree or Diploma or equivalent professional Qualification - and/or 3 years proven experience in the sector or within the company in the functions, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning
- MCSE will be an advantage
- Network operations knowledge
- Portal support knowledge (MS Share point portal)
- Valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle

**Experience**
- Minimum 3 years IT experience in a client and system support capacity
- Experience with implementation of information technology integrations like CCLAS, Starlims, LabVantage or SLIM
- Laboratory experience in a commercial Laboratory environment
- Server hardware and software support experience
- Database support experience

**Required Skills**:

- Computer and Information Literacy
- Good Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to support the IT environment; i.e. availability of data and systems, usage of tools to support and improve the implemented systems and client base as well as to keep the infrastructure updated
- Ability to coordinate computer operations and projects
- Microsoft Office Product Suite
- Excellent Telephone Etiquette
- Have an instinct for issue identification and implement the appropriate solutions
- Be practical without compromising on quality
- Ability to work independently without continuous support
- Analytical and creative minded
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to take control of the environment. Be responsible
