Our client is looking to employ an experienced Junior Merchandiser for their Cape Town Branch.

The position is office-based, with occasional field and customer visits with sales representatives and business development managers. Your fun, innovative flair, and good people relationships will help you gain momentum in this role.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plan and develop merchandising strategies that balance customers’ expectations and the company’s objectives.
- Analyse sales figures and market trends to anticipate product needs.
- Assist sales teams with ideas to display products appropriately.
- Produce layout plans for merchandising and display stands.
- Work with a program (plan) to meet sales & product growth objectives.
- Monitor stock movement to assist the sales department (internal and external) and to merchandise display stands with the correct products to benefit sales & product growth.
- Managing & repurchasing merchandising stock items kept on hand.
- Negotiating with various suppliers of merchandising stock items, keeping in line with the company’s goals to ensure cost-saving and no wasteful expenditure.
- Processing of display stands orders with MS Excel spreadsheets, from placement to final store delivery, including quality control.
- Maintain awareness of competitors' performance.
- Analysis of orders with MS Excel spreadsheets and administration of orders, from placement to final store delivery, including quality control (sample approval)
- Remain up to date with the industry’s best practices.
- Communicate progress reports weekly/monthly with senior management.

Requirements and skills:

- Excellent administrative skills making use of MS Office packages. Draw up spreadsheets and graphs in excel, product layouts in Word / Excel, and Presentations in PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
- Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
- Proven working experience in merchandising or project management.
- Highly creative with experience in identifying ways to display products.
- Up to date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening and decision-making skills.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to “decode” demand in the field.
- A degree or diploma in Marketing/project management or similar will be advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: R8,000.00 - R12,000.00 per month
