Produce quality news bulletins for the Channel that are compelling and accurately reflect the latest news events both locally and internationally. Under the leadership of the Output Editor, you will shape and create news coverage that sets Newzroom Afrika apart from other broadcasters in South Africa and beyond.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Take the lead in the planning of the Show by suggesting story ideas and treatment.
Manage and assign stories to Desk Reporters.
Assign guest requests to Content Producers
Ensure that stories in the bulletins are accurate and unbiased
Ensure stories are constantly re-written and updated.
Write scripts for discussions, promos and headlines
Assist in the writing of stories (VOs, packages)
Compile the Rundowns
Ensure that all content meets Newzroom Afrika’s Editorial Style Guide
Give editorial direction during breaking news
Keep up-to-date with story developments and reflect accordingly in the bulletins
Supervise the performance of Desk Reporters
Ensure the Show continuously meets Newzroom Afrika’s Audience Ratings’ targets
Responsible for the Show’s forward planning

**Requirements**:
Minimum of five years experience in television news and production
Diploma or degree in Journalism and/or media studies
Excellent writing skills and ability to write for TV
Good grasp of English and other South African official languages
Passion for news and current affairs
Thorough knowledge of South African and international news and current affairs
Good understanding of legal and ethical issues with regards to TV broadcasting
Understanding of BCCSA Code of Conduct
Excellent editorial judgment
Strong leadership skills
Agility in making editorial decisions and communicating effectively to the Executive Producer and editorial team
Excellent Communication skills
Knowledge of newsroom production systems and workflows
