**Weighbridge Operator**

**Scope**
- To ensure the smooth operation of the Weighbridge facility
- Act as point of contact for customers.
- Responsible for ensuring that all legal obligations and regulations are met.
- To provide efficient and effective weighbridge operation for the facility, whilst also delivering key administration tasks.
- Daily duties will include waste entry into the weighbridge system.
- Provide support for the logistics function by managing Dispatch activities (weigh in and weigh out) to ensure all inbound and outbound trucks weight are accurately captured and documented, with focus on time, in order to meet up with customers demand

**Job brief**

We have an opportunity for a Weighbridge Operator to join our Production team, working out of our factory in Alrode, Alberton. This position will provide efficient weighbridge operation for the facility, as well as accurate records and assist with general administration duties.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage the plant weighbridge to measure, record and document all incoming and outgoing vehicles
- To verify all documents presented at the weighbridge before carrying on any transaction
- Maintain a log of incoming and outgoing trucks from the plant, with information including quantity of products, arrival/ departure time, name of the driver, etc.
- Participate in receipt/measure all inbound materials
- Prepare and submit reports at hourly intervals as per the activities taking place in weighbridges
- Generate report at a closing hour and submit same as performing.
- Ensure that all weighbridge activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environment standards
- Direct traffic coming onto site and operate weighbridge.
- Check incoming loads, ensuring compliance with site license and permitted waste types.
- Accurately record weights & waste type by vehicle, completing appropriate documentation and collect driver signatures etc.
- Process delivery notes and tickets accurately and efficiently.
- Immediately report any contamination or non-conforming wastes delivered to site to the appropriate Manager.
- Report any anomalies/errors to the weighbridge system to the appropriate people immediately.
- Ensure that the waste yardage report is correct and charges are correct.
- Maintain relationships and deal with queries from customers and site visitors.
- Ensure weighbridge customers are aware of site rules and distribute information and guidance accordingly.
- Ensure that vehicles delivering to site have the correct paperwork and codes.
- Ensure that vehicles have the necessary paperwork for forward movements from the site to destination.
- Compile compliance reports for materials in and out of the site.
- Assist with general administrative duties and customer service, answering the telephone and directing calls as appropriate.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, HR and Environmental policies and procedures.
- The above list is not exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

**Requirements**:

- **Grade 12 certificate**:

- **Diploma/Certificate or its equivalent in Transport Management, Purchasing & Supplies or Business Administration - advantage**:

- Minimum of 1-years relevant work experience - scrap / metal industry knowledge may be an added advantage.
- Adequate knowledge of the metal and manufacturing industries.
- Adequate knowledge of Safety regulations.
- Ability to analyze an incidence and proffer valuable solutions.
- Ability to communicate incidences and emergencies clearly.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- High sense of responsibility
- Attention to detail and quality while in the process.
- Basic knowledge of relevant supporting tools
- Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislation relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
- Working knowledge of inventory management terminologies, methodologies, and approach
- Basic knowledge of system-based inventory management systems
- Willingness to learn, improve and adapt to changing requirements.
