Research Counsellor

Duties/Pligte
- Preparing and organising the appropriate research documents;
- Obtaining informed consent from study participants;
- Introducing and explaining the study, including all the study procedures, to the potential participants;
- Assisting with community sensitisation;
- Assisting with recruitment of MDR-TB cases and household contacts;
- Assisting with interpreting services, when required;
- Obtaining HIV consent and performing pre
- and post-test counselling;
- Facilitating in locating participants;
- Facilitating the retention of enrolled participants (including telephonic communication or conducting home visits, where applicable);
- Assisting with administrative tasks, i.e., preparing participant files for clinic visits;
- Assisting with general administrative tasks;
- Completing study-related documentation and reports accurately within the required timelines;
- Assisting with proofreading and reviewing the study documents (informed consent forms) that have been translated into Afrikaans;
- Responsible for following up on low adherence participants;
- Responsible for conducting adherence counselling regarding study product administration;
- Conducting interviews with study participants.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Grade 12;
- HIV counselling qualification or experience;
- At least two years' experience in a health-related field, i.e., healthcare, research and/or counselling;
- A punctual, well-organised and responsible work ethic;
- Basic computer literacy;
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a multidisciplinary team;
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Afrikaans and English;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Willingness to work overtime and/or after hours (compensation for such hours will be calculated as time off);
- Experience in verifying and entering study data.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Valid GCP (Good Clinical Practice) training;
- A valid driver's licence and the willingness to drive.
