Aftercare Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and caring assistant to join our Aftercare team. You would be responsible for providing outstanding care and assistance for our children and be responsible for following our safeguarding procedures. The role is first and foremost an Aftercare position from 12:00 to 18:00 but you may be needed to fill in during the mornings from 7:15am should extra assistance be needed within the school.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Qualifications**:

- Matric certificate as well as an applicable qualification in childcare or qualification in ECD/Foundation phase teaching
- South African citizen
- Previous experience and/or knowledge of working with children aged 2—13 years
- Preference will be given to applicants who have a qualification in childcare
- Clear criminal record
- Excellent command of the English language - spoken and written

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Duties include**:

- Ensuring that children are safe, happy and looked after, both physically and emotionally during Aftercare
- Alerting the Manager to any issues that arise during Aftercare
- Incident report and documentation written up daily, should an incident occur
- First Aid to be administered should an injury occur
- Implementing the daily programme of activities in conjunction with the Aftercare Manager
- Engagement with the children on their age level
- Monitoring and supervising the children in the classroom and on the playground
- Being responsible for the children’s belongings at all times and ensuring bags are packed correctly at the end of the day
- Assisting children with all toileting needs
- Serving of snacks and washing of dishes afterwards
- Cleaning and sanitising of toys regularly
- Maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the Aftercare storeroom and its contents
- Assuring that children are signed in timeously and correctly
- Assisting Primary School children with homework
- Liaising with parents and children in Aftercare on a daily basis
