The Fruit and Vegetable Procurement Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of fruit and vegetable production and procurement of raw material to provide the appropriate volumes of raw material to the processing plant, in accordance with the Integrated Business Plan (IBP), at the appropriate time, place, cost and quality.

Key Performance Areas:

- Develop and design the company’s procurement strategies and plans.
- Lead and direct the implementation of procurement strategies.
- Manage the Procurement department and team.
- Develop and design procurement team performance strategies and appraisals to ensure that the process functions smoothly and effectively.
- Develop and design procurement-related policies and procedures, taking into account applicable legislation and company business objectives.
- Draft, analyse and evaluate procurement reports.
- Evaluate the company’s regional and international procurement processes, successes, and weaknesses.
- Identify, analyse, and evaluate cost-effective strategies to improve the procurement process.
- Represent the company to key suppliers and build strong relationships with these individuals.
- Negotiate and approve key contracts and agreements with suppliers.
- Establish the procurement department’s budget on an annual basis.
- Direct the restructuring of the procurement department.
- Maintain an excellent and up-to-date knowledge of industry and economic trends, developments, and changes.
- Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA) Develop and implement appropriate and effective SCA strategies and operational plans to:

- Reduce overhead costs without impairing the Function’s effectiveness
- Compliance and Transformation
- Implementation and upkeep of Agrigrow GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) Compliance with growers
- Ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements, relating to the contracting/procurement and production of raw material for the Processing Plant
- Ensure the appropriate Quality Assurance policies, procedures and systems are developed, implemented and adhered to by both Independent and own Growers (HACCP, ISO and Customer Specific audits, etc.)
- Promote and advance the compliance of Agrigrow Foods to the appropriate Labour Legislation and BBBEE Codes

Educational and experience requirements:

- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 2 years management experience in the procurement / production environment.
- Competent in Microsoft office, (Excel, Power Point & Word) and SAP
- Well experienced in price negotiations with growers

Legal Requirements:

- Valid drivers’ license
- No criminal record

Skills and abilities:

- Competent negotiator with excellent conflict handling - and networking skills
- Good understanding of fruit and vegetable crop production & costs as well as managing challenges with these crops
- Excellent communication skills
- Resilient person with an excellent ability to motivate self and the team under very difficult circumstances.
- Strong self-management and goal orientated person that can function well in a team.
- Participative leadership style with the ability to anticipate and drive change

**Salary**: R18,000.00 per month
