Head of Engineering

**Job Specification - Head of Engineering & Plant Maintenance (Mechanical Division - Yellow & White Metal Plants)**:
**Business Overview**:
Danoher, a leading drilling, blasting, crushing, and screening contractor with its head office located in Johannesburg and is seeking highly skilled Plant Superintendents for our White Metal Plants, for various sites and locations.

They will be required to work on site and be flexible to travel to other sites to address the work requirements when needed.

**Position Overview**:
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Ensuring that all technical aspects of repairs and maintenance on Yellow Metal Equipment, White Metal crushing equipment (METSO & SANVIK), on sites and also the optimum functioning of the service workshops are achieved through continuous maintenance.
- Required to travel to sites to manage, control and address Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic repair work to equipment.
- Ensuring that through maintenance plans and schedules are executed timeously.
- Overall Management of the entire operational, technical and mechanical functions for the Yellow Metal and White Metal earth moving equipment division, including the maintenance schedules and teams (Head office based).
- Technical support, when breakdowns occur on phone and when required to report to site personal (able to understand and explain Electrical and Hydraulic schematics).
- Immediately addressing Breakdown repairs, via phone or in person as required by the production unit to avoid downtime.
- Inspection of plant and planning for repairs and maintenance using ATK and Wear Check systems.
- Preventative Maintenance, planning and execution throughout the Equipment on sites.
- Training technicians, site management and Operators on the correct use and maintenance of equipment.
- Will be required to facilitate, guide in the Installation and commissioning of plants, as a divisional head. This will also be to ensure timeous execution and installation in line with project deadlines.
- Will be required to travel to sites across South African and cross border at mínimal notice.
- Must have experience with management various sectors of operation and management control.
- Should have worked on sites as mechanic expert and also have through knowledge of the technical aspects of equipment (Metso, Pilot, Babcock, etc.).
- 10 - 15 Years Experience within a similar role working on Plant Management and Maintenance Control on Yellow Metal Equipment & White Metal Equipment (Crusher & Screen plants).
- Must have a minimum of a qualification of Industrial, Electrical and or Mechanical Engineering and or be a registered qualified Mechanic.
- Computer Literacy in MS Projects would be advantageous.
- Experience or Qualification as a Millwright, Mechatronics and Auto Electrical is essential.
- Must have through site and maintenance experience on Mechanical, Electrical & Hydraulic knowledge.
- Operational and practical experience as a fitter and or mechanic, with hydraulic and electrical experience.
- Must have experience managing maintenance teams on various locations and ensuring execution is timeously done aswell and forward planning to maintain a maintenance schedule.
- Should have personal traits of a Division Leader and can execute objectives as directed by the Executive Level.
- Have Excellent, Reporting, Communication and Time Keeping skills.
- Should possess inherent positive mind set, good people skills, should be able to work well in a group / team.
- Should be willing to stay away from home extensively and travel at short notice to sites across SA and a cross-border.
- Should be Self-driven and disciplined and possess a Hands-on approach to the work (must be a team player by heart).
- Should be in good health and will be required to do an entry medical assessment.
- Should be in possession of a valid driver’s license and passport.
- Should be willing to travel to site to address concerns / challenges as and when they require.
